Added by Dave Hulihan 294 days ago

Changelog

BXR has been 0.6.8 Released!

Here's what we've changed:

New Features

  • Mass File Uploading & Upload Progress

We've now integrated Uploadify into BXR! Uploadify is a jQuery plugin that allows you to select multiple files from your computer and upload them into BXR. It also shows you the progress of uploading files! Uploadify runs inside flash, so be sure that you have it installed in your browser. To use this new feature, just click on the "Mass File Upload" link while browsing through a folder.

  • jQuery Support

We've added jQuery support to BXR! Our first use of jQuery is for multiple file uploading and upload progress bar tracking using Uploadify(see above). We're excited to integrate more of jQuery's power into BXR in the future!

  • File Overwriting is Now Optional

There's a new system setting called "Overwrite Existing Files", that allows you enable/disable file overwriting. If enabled, any identically-named files in a folder you're working with will be overwritten by the new uploaded file. If disabled, the new file will be have a timestamp attached to its filename.

BXR 0.6.7 has been Released! Here's the changelog:

New Features

  • Customizable System Settings

There is a new link at the top menu of BXR called "Settings". An Admin can now edit BXR system settings, which control different parts of BXR (like the site title, whether a user can set their own default folders, etc.). Check out this section for more details on the settings you can change.

  • New System Setting: Let Users Change Default Folder

There is a new system setting called "Let Users Change Default Folder" that enables/disables the ability for users to change their default folder(the folder they go to when they log on).

  • Admins can now set a User's Default folder

When adding/editing a user, an Admin can now set what the user's default folder is. This can be used in conjunction with the System Setting, "Let Users Change Default Folder", to force users to go to a certain folder when they log in. Handy!

BXR Released!

Added by Dave Hulihan 519 days ago

The first version of BXR has been released today! BXR is based off of Boxroom, another good ruby on rails file management application. BXR extends some of the functionality of Boxroom. Here's some of the major changes seen in the first release, that aren't present in Boxroom:

  • File Tagging: you can now tag files to organize them a little better.
  • Running Ferret is now optional: Ferret is used to index the content of certain files(.doc, .pdf, .txt, .rtf, etc.) so you can search through your files to see what's inside them. While ferret was running great with Mongrel, we were having issues running Ferret with FastCGI and CGI. As of this version(0.6.3), Ferret is disabled by default. You can turn Ferret indexing in config/environment.rb.

Also, help us out by adding an issue ticket if you see any bugs or if you want to request any new features. Enjoy!
