Help!

Added by Anonymous User 231 days ago

I'm having trouble installing BXR, I read the INSTALL file, but I'm confused.

I finally got all the files into a folder on the C drive and can now open the install file. Upon doing so, however, I find only partial instructions!

Configure your database(s) in config/database.yml

How do I open this file? Where are the configure instructions to tell me how to configure it once I do get it open?

Run 'rake db:migrate' from the command line(typically using ssh).

Do what?!

That's it! Visit your application using fastcgi/mongrel/webrick.

Again, do what?!

Don't I need to upload these files to someplace on the server? I know they have to be on the server, but where? And at what point do I upload them?

I just discovered some more instructions in a file called, "database.yml". Again, these are only partial instructions and are absolutely confusing! Please help!

Sorry you're having trouble installing bXR. Installing and Running Ruby on Rails applications running can be a little complicated some times. Since they're usually all web-based applications, you should upload all the files onto the webserver you're going to be using. Do you have any experience with ruby on rails or setting up web applications on a server? If not, here's a good tutorial that might help you get started:
